Description

Gain expertise in counting bicycles and pedestrians and learn more about the Minnesota Bicycle and Pedestrian counting initiative in this half-day workshop. The course will focus on setting up automated equipment to detect bicycle and pedestrian traffic and analyzing data. The course includes 2 .5 hours of classroom instruction with hands-on training and 1 hour demonstrations in the field.
• Overview of Minnesota’s Bicycle and Pedestrian Counting Initiative
• Designing count solutions for your agency’s needs
• Data collection device overview from site design to data collection
• Data analysis tips, tricks, and factoring
• Case studies on how communities are using data
• Discussion of MnDOT’s continuous reference site plan
• Field review and installation of data collection devices (parking lot and nearby trail)

Audience: This course is intended for State, local agencies, contractors and consultants involved with bicycle and pedestrian data collection, analysis and research. This course will appeal to planners and engineers, health professionals, parks and recreation department staff, traffic data collection practitioners and managers, traffic sensor vendors and anyone else wishing to gain more knowledge of Minnesota’s bicycle and pedestrian count programs.
