About this event

Join BPM and local artist Zahirah Nur Truth of ZNT Arts for Words of Affirmation, a workshop where kids will celebrate Black history and affirm identity while creating an embroidered craft to take home!

In this workshop, kids will learn about the importance of celebrating Black history and affirming each other's identities, as well as discuss works of African American art that use quilting, sewing, and embroidery techniques. At the end of the workshop, participants will bring home their own embroidered work of art showcasing their chosen word of affirmation!

Please note: Advanced registration is required. Your ticket admits one child age 6+ and one parent/caregiver. Basic sewing skills are helpful, but not required, for this activity.

Boston Public Market is an indoor, year-round marketplace featuring over 30 New England artisans and food producers housed under one roof offering fresh groceries, prepared meals, crafts, specialty items, and local libations. Visit us in the heart of Downtown Boston at 100 Hanover Street.

As a nonprofit organization, the Boston Public Market Association is a “Market on a Mission” to: celebrate the bounty of all New England has to offer; nurture and support food growers, producers, and entrepreneurs who have barriers to fully participate in the market; educate neighbors and visitors on the importance of a resilient and equitable food system, local sourcing, and nutrition; celebrate, deepen, and cultivate a diverse community around food.
