About this event

  • Event lasts 1 hour

Join us for a tantalizing journey into the world of Lesbian Pulp fiction, where love, desire, and rebellion simmered beneath salacious covers. This virtual event, hosted in collaboration with three renowned queer archives—Wanderground Lesbian Archive/Library, Gerber/Hart LGBTQ+ Library and Archives, and The History Project—will explore how these novels, often dismissed as tawdry pulp, became secret lifelines for women who dared to love boldly in an era of oppression.

Delve into the scandalous, subversive stories that pushed societal boundaries and whispered of hidden desires, passions, and complex female relationships. From the groundbreaking Odd Girl Out to the seductive Whisper Their Love and beyond, we’ll uncover how these books defied censorship while fueling the imaginations of countless readers.

Join us Thursday, November 21st at 7:00 pm ET via Zoom for an evening of history, love, and rebellion.

Founded in 2022 and located in Rhode Island, Wanderground Lesbian Archive/Library collects, preserves, exhibits, and brings to life a broad selection of Lesbian publications, media, artifacts, and personal memorabilia primarily between 1950-2000. We specifically seek to gather materials and stories of Lesbians and Lesbian organizations in the New England region. However, we do have many (inter)national items, including a special collection focused on Lesbian/women’s Presses and music recordings. You can see items from our catalog at wanderground.org

Mev Miller is the Instigator/Lesbrarian for Wanderground. The starter collection for Wanderground originates from Mev’s 40+ years of personal gathering and preserving Lesbian cultural artifacts and materials, especially publications and music. She was involved in the Women in Print movement for more than 25 years. Mev was also a DJ for a Lesbian community-radio show for 10 years.
