Your tour guide will be Anne Schnoebelen, who is a popular and frequent speaker on the Golden Gate International Exposition and Treasure Island history.
This tour will feature access to “secret places” not readily accessible to the public.* It will focus on the historic airport buildings, but can include a larger area of the island depending upon the group’s energy. Discussion will include the building of the island, the GGIE and Pan American years, the Navy decades, the Treasure Island Museum, and the ongoing transformation of Treasure Island into "San Francisco's Newest Neighborhood."
Tours begin in our gallery in historic Building One at 10:00 a.m. and will last 2+ hours.
Afternoons on Treasure Island can be very windy and there is no shade in outdoor areas. You will be walking on uneven terrain with some tripping hazards. Please choose clothing and footwear with these things in mind.
*Please note that access to one of the “secret places,” the Control Tower on Building One, is usually available but can't be guaranteed.
