Join us for a special two-part film history livestream program commemorating the life of Ulysses S. Grant - one of our greatest military leaders and one of our most underrated Presidents.

We'll be watching the 2002 PBS American Experience documentary "Ulysses S. Grant" over two consecutive Fridays.

Friday, February 14 - Grant PBS Documentary Part 2 of 2

Both programs: 8:00 pm est / 7:00 pm cst, with each film segment approximately 2-2.5 hours.

During the programs you are invited to discuss Ulysses S. Grant, the Civil War and the with your fellow participants via Zoom.

Ulysses S. Grant is a 2002 two-part television documentary film about Ulysses S. Grant, the 18th President of the United States. Produced by PBS for the American Experience documentary program, it recounts Grant's life from his childhood in Ohio to his presidency, with narration by Liev Schreiber. The film was released in two parts on May 5 and 6, 2002, with part one (titled "Warrior") written, produced, and directed by Adriana Bosch, and part two (titled "President") written, produced, and directed by Elizabeth Deane.

Ulysses S. Grant (born Hiram Ulysses Grant /ˈApril 27, 1822 – July 23, 1885) was an American military officer and politician who served as the 18th president of the United States from 1869 to 1877. As president, Grant was an effective civil rights executive who created the Justice Department and worked with the Radical Republicans to protect African Americans during Reconstruction. As Commanding General, he led the Union Army to victory in the American Civil War in 1865 and thereafter briefly served as Secretary of War.
