This comprehensive three-session course for home gardeners offers a sound foundation in design styles and process, the importance of sustainability and how to model a garden after patterns in nature. Students will devise a base/plot plan, implementing knowledge of hardscape materials, irrigation, soils and more. Prior to the class, students will complete a preliminary questionnaire and warm-up exercise for their site. In addition, students are asked to bring photos of their site and a baggie of the site's soil to the first day of class.

COURSE PREREQUISITE: Our Right Place, Right Plant class. This must be taken before the first session of the design class.

Carol is an award-winning landscape designer and contractor, and the owner of Seco Verde, Inc, a firm specializing in drought-resistant regionally appropriate landscapes.

$235 members, $285 nonmembers; $295 member couples, $345 nonmember couples.

Cancellation Policy: Full refunds will be given if the cancellation is made more than 7 days before the first class. If a cancellation is requested 7 days or less before the first class, only a postponement will be given, with the following fees attached: $135 for members, $180 for non-members, $190 for member couples, $250 for non-member couples. No refunds will be given within 7 days of the first class, and postponements will only be given within 7 days of the first class.
