Denise Meridith is a Brooklyn native with a BS from Cornell University and MPA from University of Southern California.  She is an extraordinary business leader and author with significant accomplishments in the government, academic, non-profit, and for-profit sectors. Denise founded the Greater Phoenix Black Chamber of Commerce and played a major role in the projects like the approval and creation of State Farm Stadium and Tempe Town Lake. She is currently CEO of The World's Best Connectors, a virtual community for C-suite executives, Denise Meridith Consultants Inc, a 24-year-old public and community affairs S-Corporation, and the non-profit Read to Kids US.

In sports, the term “next up” means that a team has the depth to replace a key player, who is hurt or retires. In the business world, most CEOs and business owners do not place a priority on identifying a successor. In other situations, traditional succession methods have excluded women or people of color. Poor planning can endanger any business, especially in unpredictable economic times. As importantly, a weak or no bench or lack of planning, endangers family wealth, and community (especially underserved urban and rural areas) well-being. This workshop will focus on a variety of challenges re: succession planning for family-owned business, and in the sports and hospitality industries.Hear from Jerry Colangelo, Kiva Couchin from The AZ Office of Tourism, Congressman Greg Stanton (invited) and other business and community leaders about the impact the succession planning on business. This is an in-person event.* *All COVID-restriction policies in effect will be followed. The workshop will be virtual if live attendance is prohibited. There are no refunds.
