About this event

On the heels of a successful Golden Hour Creative Event and Meetup held in September, the owners of South 40 Farm are once again opening their property to any and all creatives for a sunset golden hour photography opportunity from 4:30 p.m. to 6 p.m., Saturday, October 19.

Located at 1764 Lewisburg Pike, just south of I-840 in Franklin, the 40-acre farm is used as a location for photo and video shoots. But for one October afternoon, the property, its sets and its natural beauty, will be open to anyone who wants to come mingle with fellow creatives or take advantage of a spectacular shoot location at sunset.

“We had such a great time mingling with some local creatives at our last event, that we decided to do it again,” said South 40 owner Ann Thoni. “This is such a pretty time of year for photos with the late summer, early fall lighting. We wanted to give people an opportunity to come enjoy and shoot a beautiful sunset.”

Miranda Flynn attended the location’s first Golden Hour event and says she will recommend the property to everyone.

“There’s so many options on this property - any type of shoot would look amazing there,” she wrote in a Google review. “The sunset was just gorgeous, with lots of beautiful mature trees light shining through them, there’s a large beautiful field, big gorgeous green space. Then they have a beautiful barn that’s so pretty on its own.”

This Rockabilly Ghostly Golden Hour event will have a Halloween theme and will include a trunk-or-treat with classic Rat Rod cars, hay rides, ghostly appearances, a coffin and graveyard shoot set and the ability to network with other creatives and explore a new and exciting place to shoot everything from family photos to music videos.

Betty’s Couture will also be on hand showcasing and selling items from her 50s-inspired line of clothing and accessories.

Multiple barns will be open for attendees to just peruse or use for a shoot that night. Creatives are encouraged to bring photography subjects and scan the farm for the perfect setting for photos.

Attendees are welcome to roll in with their family, friends and furry friends. Bring your fancy Nikon DSLR and bag of lenses; or pop in with your iPhone. The event is open to everyone of all skill levels who want to shoot great photos -- or learn to shoot great photos.

Restrooms will be available and there is plenty of free, on-site parking. Admission to the event is $20 per photographer/creative. This event is meant to offer an afternoon chock full of beautiful shooting opportunities as well as a straight-up fun hang with some like-minded folks.

You might learn a thing or two, you might take some beautiful pictures and you will definitely leave with some new friends.
