Join us for a volunteer day at Pacifica Garden Farm at Rio Vista Elementary! Service hours are available for MDUSD Students.
About Pacifica Garden Farm: The Pacifica Garden Farm is an educational and ecological site Growing Healthy Kids is developing in the heart of Bay Point on a 45,000 square foot plot at Rio Vista Elementary School! With the help of community members and volunteers like you, our team is filling this site with plant life that will produce edible fruits and flowers all year round for neighbors and students to enjoy! The site plan was developed by Jorge Espinosa, and models the best practices of permaculture, sustainable agriculture, and habitat restoration. Learn more about Pacifica Garden Farm here.
Projects Include: At this Small Crew Work Party, volunteers will work on...
- Garden maintenance
- Planting edible trees & shrubs
- Mulching & site development
Access Notes: The Rio Vista Site is outdoors and can get hot, so bring sunscreen and a hat. There will be access to a bathroom. The area is mulch and dirt, and unfortunately within the food forest there are not yet accesible pathways. You should Bring: Bring water bottles, sun protection, and shoes that can get dirty.
Arrival information: The entrance to Pacifica Garden Farm is at the corner of Pacifica Avenue and Mariners Cove Drive, about a block down from the main school entrance for Rio Vista Elementary. Please arrive directly at the entrance to Pacifica Garden Farm.
