About this event

Training Series Overview:

This course is designed to provide an overview of the 2021 International Code (I-Code) changes and how it relates to the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) Provisions. Building codes are the key to saving lives and money, while working to preserve property. The course will briefly discuss the importance of implementing and enforcing building codes, inform the audience on the 2021 I-Code changes, and explain how communities can incorporate and adopt the 2018 and 2021 I-Codes to enhance NFIP requirements.

General Course Logistics:

This 1.5-hour course opportunity will be presented virtually for Region 3 federal, state, and local partners. This opportunity will not provide credit from the Emergency Management Institute (EMI). Despite this limitation, this course will provide a more localized perspective to FEMA Region 3 stakeholders, while providing additional avenues for communities to meet and exceed National Flood Insurance Program requirements.

Target Audience:

  • Federal, State, Tribal Floodplain Administrators
  • Federal, State, Tribal Planning Officials
  • State and Local Building Inspectors
  • State and Local Code Enforcement Officials
  • Third Party Private Agencies/Contractors supporting communities or directly working with the general public
