pray and break bread (pbb).NYC is one of City Seminary of New York's core practices. Each year we visit different neighborhoods in the five boroughs for a time of learning from ministry leaders, Scripture reading, prayer walking, and eating food specific to each neighborhood. As we journey together, we come to know and love our city more, build community, and experience God's presence in the city in ways we might not otherwise notice.
This year we will focus on the theme Sing for the Peace of the City. When we walk, pray, and eat together, how can we sing along with the melody of the Spirit's song? How do we create harmony with those who are already singing along in their neighborhoods?
We will begin the academic year with our annual pbb.WHERE YOU ARE NYC on September 10, 2024 - inviting participants to pray from their own neighborhood using the handout we will provide, joining together on the same day, same time, from wherever we are to lift up our communities in prayer. For the rest of the year, we will join in person as our neighborhood hosts introduce us to their communities. Each pbb will end with a time of breaking bread together at a local eatery.
