I didn't see the earlier sessions! Can I still join the later ones?

Accepted Answer

Yes, please join! We'll start each session with a short introduction to get us all on the same page, and each training is fundamental enough that we won't need too much backstory to get rolling.

Question 2

Do I need to know how to code to participate?

Accepted Answer

Absolutely not! Some of the sessions will explicitly be about using tools like Google Sheets instead of Python, but even the more coding-y ones won't be too awful. If you're inspired I'm sure you'll pick up the code aspects quickly enough, anyway.

Question 3

I'm interested in the business side of journalism, will that be covered?

That stuff is a lot more complicated for two or three hundred reasons. We're mostly sticking to error-resilient reporter-facing AI with these sessions. But more than happy to chat more if you want to drop me an email.

Question 4

Do I need to sign up for a particular session?

Nope, one ticket gets a link to every session! Sign up for one and you've signed up for all of them.

Question 5

What about RAGs and fact-checking and generating stories based on gov't meeting transcripts????

These all step a bit outside of the "practical" side of things, although I will address them (at length!) in the "gen ai is a dead end for journalism" session. I have a lot of very specific opinions about them, mostly involving cumulative error rates, but we can save that for a future set of talks.
