WE WILL NOT BE ERASED

Alarming new federal and state policies in much of the U.S. are focused on removing LGBTQ+ people and their forebears from government databases, schools, the military, libraries, and the workplace. The ONLY way to effectively counter this unprecedented campaign of erasure is to relentlessly promote the achievements and contributions LGBTQ+ people have been making to society throughout history. Our new social media campaign not only celebrates these extraordinary individual achievements - it also focuses on the HEADLINES each of us is reading EVERY DAY. We urgently need your assistance to expand the reach of the We Will Not be Erased campaign beyond business-as-usual through high-visibility paid/targeted placement the Legacy Project normally cannot afford.

ABOUT THE LEGACY PROJECT

The award-winning Legacy Project works to educate the general public about the many roles Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Queer (LGBTQ) people have played in the advancement of world history and culture. Through "The Legacy Walk" in Chicago (the world's only outdoor LGBTQ museum and Chicago's newest Historic Landmark); "The Legacy Project Education Initiative" ( the foundation of Illinois's new LGBTQ-Inclusive Curriculum); and "The Legacy Wall" (traveling digitally-interactive exhibit) - the Legacy Project challenges the social and cultural marginalization of LGBTQ youth that fuels bullying.

ABOUT OUT OF THE OFFICE

"OUT Of The Office" was founded in 2001 as a celebration for LGBTQ+ people, allies, family, and friends to gather downtown and kick-off Gay Pride Month in Chicago. Event founder Andrew Hayes officially passed the hosting duties and management of this extremely popular event to The Legacy Project in 2023 as a way to support the ongoing development of LGBTQ-Inclusive and Affirming education resources and curricula for Illinois public school students.

The Legacy Project is a 501(c)3 cultural and educational non-profit committed to celebrating the contributions of LGBTQ people to world history and culture as a way to combat the ignorance which fuels anti-gay bullying. Through its permanent installation "The Legacy Walk", its traveling installation "The Legacy Wall", “Legacy Project Education Initiative” teaching tools, and its "Legacy LIVE" series of events and programs, the Legacy Project works to counter the damaging effects that have resulted from the redaction of LGBTQ people from shared human history.
