With a love for disco dating back to childhood, he’s been making music since 2003 and DJing since 2015, sharing stages with legends like A-Trak, LF System, Dombresky,Chromeo, and Classix, among others. His music has been supported by DJ's Jamie Jones, Paco Osuna, LF System, Never Dull, Richie Hawtin and more.
Known for high energy and charismatic sets, MGRMike blends original productions, underground disco-house gems, and house music classics, creating a multi-generational experience. Through his label Sparkle Motion Recordings, his monthly party Midnight Velvet in Nashville, TN, and theFunky Disco House Spotify playlist, he’s championing the funky side of dance music nonstop while fostering a diverse and inclusive scene with a community first approach.
SPARKLE CITY DISCO
Sparkle City Disco are Nashville’s premier vinyl disco DJs. The duo - Jonas Stein and David Bermudez - formed one fateful, bourbon-filled night at classic Nashville dive Foobar. Jonas, raised on punk and having toured the world playing in rock bands, had a slightly different upbringing than his counterpart David, whose schooling forbade dancing. The two did, however, share the desire to spin classic vinyl disco '45s, and the pair cut their teeth DJ'ing every Friday night at Foobar until their popularity demanded they take the show on the road.
"I got a 4-disc CD set at the library (which I'm pretty sure I never returned) and would go to a local venue on Saturday nights (or maybe it was Fridays?) It's when some of our dj friends were spinning regularly," says Bermudez of his early years DJ'ing. "I would post up in the parking lot with my doors open and blast all four discs, generating a weekly parking lot dance party."
"I didn't really like David until one morning I woke up at his house after a party he threw," says Jonas of David. "My car was across town and I asked for his address so I could call a Yellow Taxi Cab. He told me he would just give me a ride, where we listened to music and bonded over this psychedelic Chubby Checker album."
The duo specialize in filling rooms with the sounds of deep, pre-house disco hits from the '70s and '80s, and deck venues out with oversized mirrored balls, hazers, lights and lasers. Their straight-ahead DJ style features all hits and no tricks, and pays homage to the original vinyl tastemakers while honoring the genre of disco.
Come and spin the night with Sparkle City.
ALICE.KM
Alice.KM trusts her instincts. In truth, the nascent DJ, producer, and songwriter has never done anything but. Her instincts got her started on the decks, defined her ethereal production style, and guided her all around the world doing what has only ever felt like a need: playing music.
In 2016, her instincts led her to her first DJ gig in Brooklyn, New York, and not long after, she was playing at major venues in NYC like Elsewhere and The Rosewood Theater. She then began organizing her own tours of the West Coast of the United States, stopping in at legendary spaces like Avalon Hollywood and celebrated festivals like Dusk Music Festival. She’s also spread her wings internationally, being featured on two prominent London radio stations: Netil Radio and BMC Radio. She has supported revered artists and parties like Anjunadeep’s Simon Doty and Drumcode’s Phoenix takeover, and she’s been selected to play at major events like June Jam Music and Art Festival.
Having only started producing in 2020 when the pandemic closed all events, she’s now signed to labels like Fantastic Voyage, Circus Recordings, Lady of the House, and Delusional Records, crafting her unique sound that paints pictures as well as it induces dance moves.
NGHTFVR:
NGHTFVR began throwing disco parties in SF in 2006 and worked with Sister Sledge, Escort (18 piece disco band), Juanita More!, and Thelma Houston and quickly became one of the fastest promoter groups in SF history. NGHTFVR loves to blend classic and rare disco with modern disco house to best encapsulate the feeing of the original 1970s discos with a contemporary edge.
