Montgomery Connects is distributing 1 free computer to households eligible for the ACP internet subsidy. Only 1 computer per eligible household and only 1 computer per address.

When you pick up the computer, YOU MUST SHOW: (1) PHOTO ID; (2) YOUR ADDRESS; (3) PROOF YOU ARE ENROLLED IN OR ELIGIBLE FOR ACP BY BRINGING FIRST PAGE OF YOUR TAX RETURN, BENEFIT CARD, OR ACP ON YOUR INTERNET BILL. See our website www.montgomerycountymd.gov/computer for complete information about which documents to bring. The person registering for the computer must be a Montgomery County resident at least 7 years old. YOU DO NOT NEED TO BE A U.S. CITIZEN. YOU WILL NOT RECEIVE A COMPUTER IF YOU DO NOT HAVE PROOF OF YOUR CURRENT ADDRESS AND ELIGIBILITY DOCUMENT.

WHAT TO EXPECT WHEN YOU ARRIVE TO PICK UP A COMPUTER:

1.DO NOT ARRIVE EARLY. We will have enough computers for every one with an appointment. People arriving before their appointment time will be asked to wait until people with earlier appointments are serviced.

2. You will be asked if you are enrolled in the ACP program to get $45 per moth off your home or mobile internet bill. You will be offered help to enroll if you are not enrolled.

3. You will be asked to show proof of your address, and the first page of your tax return for income, or a card or letter showing you or your child are enrolled in a benefit program. You must qualify for ACP to receive a computer.

If you need assistance in ASL, auxiliary aids, or in languages other than English or Spanish and the County will make reasonable accommodations or schedule a specific pick-up for you. Contact us at MontgomeryConnects@montgomerycountymd.gov after you have made an appointment for special accommodations, or if you do not have an address.

TIPS TO REGISTER TO RECEIVE A COMPUTER: Use this Eventbrite form to make an appointment. You must have a phone number and email to use this form. Contact us at montgomeryconnects@montgomerycountymd.gov or 311 if you do not have an email address, phone, or an address, or if you have trouble filling out this form. If the event shows “Sold Out,” it means all the appointment tickets have been taken. YOU MUST HAVE AN APPOINTMENT TO PICK UP A COMPUTER. Questions marked with an asterisk (*) must be answered.

• Cell Phone – Use parent’s cell phone, or landline number if you do not have a cellphone

• Address 1 – Street Number and Street Name

• Address 2 – Apartment Number (if any)

Questions 1-6: The County asks these questions to determine if you are eligible for the computer because of income or enrollment in another benefit program.

Questions 7-12: The County asks for these questions to provide you with information about other technology programs.

Questions 13-18: The County asks these demographic questions to summarize who is receiving the computers.

This information may be shared with the Housing Opportunities Commission and community partners to support you and make you aware of other technology programs. The County does not sell your data.
