The Mark Williams Ergatta is more than an indoor rowing event—it celebrates fitness, community, and perseverance. Proceeds directly support the Mark Williams Scholarship Fund for Lake Lanier Rowing Club youth rowers who have financial need. The LLRC team wants to remain accessible to all youth in the North Georgia region, and events like the Mark Williams Ergatta enable us to do that. Scholarship funds help offset the cost of semester dues, competition expenses, and uniforms for recipients. Every entry helps support our youth rowers.
Here's what to expect:
- Rowing Events for All Levels: From Masters and Junior competitors to Open events, the competition offers opportunities for athletes to shine at every stage of their journey.
- Open Team Relays: Local fitness gyms and functional fitness groups compete head-to-head to test strength and endurance, rowing for pride and bragging rights.
- First Responders 911m Event: A unique, high-energy 911-meter event where firehouses and other first responder teams compete for the title of North Georgia’s strongest.
- Cancer Survivors and Supporters Event: A non-competitive event celebrating the progress and resilience of individuals impacted by cancer through their participation in rowing.
- Awards: The top three competitors in each event will receive medals for their efforts.
If you cannot compete, please consider donating to the team to help us further our mission! Every donation helps us reach more youth athletes and enables our youth rowers to travel to races across the country that they could not without your support.

Masters events are 1000 meters. Open events and all Juniors events are 2000 meters. The Cancer Survivor and Supporters event is 1000 meters. The First Responder event is 911 meters. Open Team Relays are 2000 meters in total, split between 4 people, so 500 meters each.
If you are competing in a solo event and want to register for the team relay, finish your registration as a solo athlete and start a new registration for the team relay. Teams must be two women and two men. Please include all athlete names in the registration.
Yes! It is up to you to decide if you would like to compete in the Masters or Open event.
Yes, the event is for anybody impacted by cancer.
Please register each athlete as a separate ticket under their specific event. Multiple tickets registered under one check-out will not collect all the name, age, and event information. Thank you!
The proposed event agenda is below, and the official schedule will be emailed to you directly on February 27th after registration closes. Any additional heats that need to be added will be included in the final schedule, as well as your heat/erg assignment.
Masters events are only for ages 25+, and result times are adjusted by age. Open events are open to all age groups, including masters, juniors, and college-aged athletes, and do not include any age adjustments. Open events tend to be more competitive. It is up to you which race you're interested in!
Depending on the number of entries, the masters events will be divided into multiple events separated by age as best as possible. If there is only one event, we will use age handicaps to adjust times.
