Our Story : The Howard Gospel Choir of Howard University was formed on the campus of Howard University over fifty years ago in the late 1960s, by a resilient group of students who believed that gospel music belonged on the campus of Howard University. The Howard Gospel Choir of Howard University (HGC) is a body of students, alumni and members of the community from all over the world that are dedicated to using their gifts to spread the good news of Jesus Christ. As one of the first college gospel choirs, HGC is a trailblazer for all Gospel music ministries across collegiate campuses in the nation.

Locally, nationally and internationally, the choir is known as cultural ambassadors sharing gospel music through educational workshops (focused on sacred music and exposing audiences to the historically black college and university experience) and concerts. The choir’s international travel (most countries within the last decade) includes the following: Belgium, Italy, Slovakia, the Republic of Georgia, Ukraine, Denmark, Sweden, Croatia, Macedonia, Romania, Colombia, Panama, Peru, Belize, Uruguay the Czech Repulic, Luxembourg, Slovakia, the United Kingdom, Switzerland and Austria.

The Howard Gospel Choir of Howard University is a religious life organization under the auspices of the Andrew Rankin Memorial Chapel where the Rev. Dr. Bernard Richardson is the Dean. The choir is currently under the musical direction of Reginald Golden, a Howard University graduate from University Heights, OH. Darrell Brown, also an alumnus of Howard University is the assistant musical director. [howardgospelchoir.com]
