La Merienda

Come celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month with us as we embrace our culture and share our traditions! Merienda is a small meal/afternoon snack popular in Spanish-speaking cultures. Learn about and enjoy this tradition as we welcome several distinguished speakers: Dr. Rubén Minutti Zanatta, Cónsul General de México, on the history of la merienda; chef Cariño Cortez and Paloma Cortez on their book “Camilla la Magica Makes Tamales”; and Dr. Ellen Riojas Clark, of the University of Texas at San Antonio, on her book “Pan Dulce.” This will be a joyful celebration you won’t want to miss!
