A stained glass mosaic activity for crafty kids! We'll make an 8x10" framed mosaic suncatcher.
A mosaic is an image made up of tiny pieces of various materials. We do stained glass here at The Artery Studio, so our mosaics will be made out of stained glass! Because we're using real pieces of stained glass on a glass pane, our images will be see-through like a suncatcher! This activity is a lot like doing a jigsaw puzzle - you fit pieces of glass into the spaces of your design to create an image.
Guests can design their own image or choose from an array of cartoon-styled images like emoji's, hearts or stars, letters, etc! If you're drawing your own design ahead of time, please keep in mind that simple cartoon drawings are better to work with than very detailed drawings. Glass has limitations and it's very challengning to maintain small details.
We will be using real glass pieces which can be sharp. Gardening gloves and safety glasses are provided but you may certainly bring your own.
A bag of white or grey grout (your choice!) will be sent home with each project for guests to complete their projects once the glue between all their glass pieces is dry.
Kids age 8 and up are welcome! Must have an adult present if under 12.
