Did you know you can solve social and environmental issues through entrepreneurship? For-profit start-ups can reduce carbon emissions, cut waste, improve medical access, and much more! If you’re looking for a way to address sustainability challenges you care about, sign up for SEED in Spring 2025 and apply to pitch. We’ll offer workshops, videos/reading materials, and advice from experts, then end the Spring with a pitch for funds. Attend our kick-off info session + Impact Entrepreneur’s “Ask Me Anything” on 2/5 to learn more! The 2/5 panel will feature five founders working in the sustainability space. They will start with moderated discussion about their founder journeys, then move into open Q&A.

The Global Sustainability Leadership Institute, formerly known as the Social Innovation Initiative, acts as UT-Austin’s hub on campus for innovation in social and environmental impact. The Institute is managed by The McCombs School of Business and is built in partnership with The Moody College of Communication. Our work focuses on corporate sustainability, sustainable finance, impact innovation and infrastructure, and sustainability communications. The GSLI team strives to cultivate a world where business professionals can create economic value for their organizations while shaping a circular, regenerative economy that benefits all stakeholders. We reach students and community members through experiential learning programs, courses, community events, career support, and research. We are also excited to offer a new Minor in Sustainable Business and Communications starting in the Fall of 2022. Please contact us at gsli@mccombs.utexas.edu for more information.
