This program runs from 9:30am -12:30pm Monday through Friday. Drop off is at 9:15am. This art program is best suited for ages 7-11. All days include time in the museum as well as a snack.
Monday 8/4 - Students will be introduced to batik and ice-dyeing and create two pieces of art on fabric. Students will learn to use tjanting tools and wax resist to create their own designs on a bandana. After, they will delve into ice-dyein, learn about tying to make patterns, and use fiber reactive dyes on a T-shirt. If taking this as a stand alone class, batik and ice-dyeing work will be ready for pick-up on Wednesday, Aug. 6th.
Tuesday 8/5- Students will create a piece of piece of pottery using clay. This includes time on the pottery wheelas well as learning and using techniques to decorate their own designs in their clay work. This clay is self-hardening and will take several days to dry. If taking this class as a stand alone class, clay pieces will be ready for pick-up on Friday, Aug. 8th.
Wednesday 8/6 - Students will discover the excitement of resin while making 3D pieces of their choice. Students will learn the chemistry behind resin, how to use pigments and additives to make their own unique pieces. Then, students will explore beads and stones while designing a special piece of jewelry. They will learn the art of wire-wrapping stones and use them to create a focal point in a one-of-a-kind statement piece to wear. If taking this as a stand alone class, resin pieces will be ready for pick-up on Friday, Aug. 8th.
Thursday 8/7 - Students will delve into how technology helps create art using 3D pens and art doodle bots. Students will create their own multi-dimensional designs using the 3D pens and learn how to use the doodle bots to make their own unique pictures. There will be time to paint completed pottery pieces as well.
Friday 8/8 - Students will make their own soft-sculpture pieces using recycled cashmere! Students will choose from a variety of easy patterns, how to hand sew using a running stitch, and add embellishments to make their very own cuddly masterpieces.
All items will be ready to be picked up on Friday if attending for the entire week. Please note pick-up dates if attending for a stand alone session.
