About Ikebana:
Ikebana, the art of Japanese flower arranging, is a way to inspire you to focus on the natural beauty of your surroundings. This fun workshop will share the basic philosophical concepts of this traditional art and teach you the basic techniques to create your own Ikebana that you may take home with you at the end of the session. All supplies are provided. No equipment or previous experience is necessary.
There are many schools of Ikebana in Japan, and different rules do apply to the teachings of each school. Nevertheless, the basic principles of the art are carefully preserved, and common among all the schools. This workshop is being presented by the Sogetsu School of Ikebana which was founded by Sofu Teshigahara in Tokyo, 1927. The Sogetsu school is one of the largest and most modern with its approach to technique, variety of materials, design, and outlook.
