Description

The Center for Democracy & Technology invites you to join us on January 31 for a talk with Susan Crawford on her new book, Fiber: The Coming Tech Revolution and Why America Might Miss It. The book explores how fiber optic connections will enable virtual presence and dramatically change our daily lives and institutions, from agriculture to healthcare to education. Combining legal expertise with on-the-ground reporting, Crawford argues that the current providers of internet access in the U.S. are holding back the infrastructure improvements that would be necessary for these changes to occur. She also reports on initial steps local governments are taking to bring this technology to their communities. Crawford will be joined by Chris Calabrese, CDT’s Vice President of Policy, in conversation. This event will be followed by a networking reception and refreshments. The event is free with the option to purchase a book with your event registration, space is limited so please RSVP below.
