On average, individuals with OCD wait 10-17 years from symptom onset to diagnosis, and, even after receiving a diagnosis, it can be difficult to access appropriate treatment.
This 9.5 hour training will teach therapists how to identify OCD, a highly misunderstood disorder, as well as how to use exposure and response prevention (ERP) to treat clients/patients with OCD. Participants will learn how to implement ERP in a trauma-informed and culturally-affirming manner.
This training took place live via Zoom, and a recording is available to those who could not attend the live training.
The following topics will be covered:
- What is obsessive-compulsive disorder?
- OCD symptomology and OCD across cultures
- Assessment of OCD
- Exposure and response prevention treatment (intake, psychoeducation, family accommodation, fear hierarchy development, ERP techniques)
- Relapse prevention and termination
