About this event

  • Event lasts 1 hour

Imagine a world in which Georgia elections are competitive, and control of the state legislature and our Congressional delegation is at stake. Is this possible? How would such a change affect key legislative issues?

Elected officials in non-competitive or “safe”voting districts may not be as responsive to the will of their constituents as are officials in competitive districts, especially as the demographics of voting districts change over time.Truly fair and competitive voting districts result in more diverse and responsive government entities --competition breeds excellence.

Join Ken Lawler, chair of the Fair Districts GA Foundation, along with the Fair Districts GA research team as they explore the evolution and consequences of district mapping in Georgia in recent years. They will also discuss Georgia’s voter preferences and suggest feasible ways to create more fair and representative districts in the future.
