But do you know how to use it, how to make it work for you?
In this session, I will walk you through various personas available in Fabric: Data Factory, Data Engineering, Data Science, Data Warehouse, Real-Time Analytics & Data Activator. Which one should you use? Let's check together what problems and architectures can we address with Microsoft Fabric and whether we can build a reliable Data Platform efficiently.

Data engineering doesn’t have to be a headache — especially with Microsoft Fabric in your toolkit. Fabric might still be quite young as a service, but Data engineering leverages true and tested capabilities of Delta Lake and Spark, as well as Pipelines adapted from Data Factory.
This session is for you to get up to speed with the core capabilities for Data engineering in Fabric. We will begin with a walk through of the core concepts of data engineering in Fabric from OneLake, Delta Lake, Lakehouses, Pipelines, Spark compute and Notebooks. At the core is understanding how these different pieces work together. After that we will go more deeply into working with notebooks and how you can manage your computer usage efficiently. We will also focus on how to leverage Lakehouses and structure your data. Lastly we will dive into an end-to-end solution that can showcase all these components and how they work together in practice. 

T1: A No-Nonsense Guide to Data Engineering in Microsoft Fabric

What if your AI interactions could understand natural language, your code, your database and automate logic? In this fun, code-first session, we’ll build a pizza shop chatbot using .NET, SQL Server, and Semantic Kernel. You’ll see how to:

- Turn natural language questions like “What’s the price of a Pepperoni pizza?” into SQL queries automatically.
- Connect Semantic Kernel to a SQL Server database for real-time menu updates, order tracking, and payment processing.
- Use AI to handle messy inputs (e.g., “Remove that weird pineapple pizza from my cart!”) and translate them into clean database operations.

We’ll refactor an in-memory pizza shop demo (with carts, menus, and payments) to use SQL, replacing static lists with dynamic database calls. You’ll leave with:

I'll present a practical use case in which data loading and processing automation allows for a quick overview and supports the creation of an analytical platform. Built into Fabric Notebooks is a feature called 'Semantic Link'. This feature enables notebooks to connect to semantic models living within your environment. Even more, using notebooks you can interact with these semantic models. For example, you can run DAX queries against the model to extract data. You can also access the XMLA endpoint or call on APIs to actually make changes to your model. The possibilities are endless!
In this session we'll dive into a number of hands-on examples of notebooks greatly improving the life of the Power BI Developer. Assessing the impact of a change in the semantic model?
