About this event

  • Event lasts 1 hour 30 minutes
  • UNDER 18 WITH PARENT OR LEGAL GUARDIAN

Join Amy Kuretsky, L.Ac from Constellation Acupuncture & Healing Arts, for a small group breathwork + writing workshop at Sunna.

We know that breathwork is a powerful experiential tool and process that allows deep self-exploration and transformation. But did you also know that breathwork opens up creative channels and pathways in deeply powerful ways? In this gathering we’ll be using the breath to open up our connection to our intuition and inner creativity and then spend dedicated time in our own journaling or creative writing practices to process what came up for us.

Come to the group with a topic you’d like to explore, question you’d like to dive into, or mess you’re hoping to untangle - OR, show up with nothing but an open heart and curious mind and use one of Amy’s writing prompts to guide your writing time.

Breathwork uses only the power of our own breath with the support of music and a group dynamic to access a non-ordinary state of consciousness. We will seek a better understanding of ourselves through an intentional breathing practice to go within into the deepest parts of ourselves and witness whatever we find there with love and compassion.

There’s significant power in coming together in a sacred container to breathe and open our hearts together as a group. This group dynamic allows you to care for yourself while you care for your community through group healing.

This 90-min event will be split into four parts:

Time to ground into our present moment and set intentions for our time together.

Time to lay down and breathe.

Time after the breathing to process what came up for us in our own personal writing practices.

Time to reflect as a group, ask questions, and close our time together.

Before you arrive:

No previous breathwork experience necessary. Wear comfy and warm clothes, bring a yoga mat, notebook and pen, water bottle, plus an extra blanket or whatever makes you feel the most cozy and supported.

Frequently asked questions

Is the space accessible?

The studio is accessible by wheelchair. If participating in the breathwork in a wheelchair, it is requested that you have a head-rest on your chair for safety reasons. Single stall bathrooms are one floor below the studio in the basement of the building and can be accessed by stairs or elevator.

What type of breathwork will be practiced?

For most of the breathing portion we'll be utilizing a three-part, open-mouthed, circular breath pattern that has similarities to various styles of pranayama, holotropic, and conscious connected breathing techniques.

Is this workshop focused more on relaxation or emotional release?

For some of us, breathwork will open the door to a variety of emotions to move through our bodies, while for others it will create a deeper sense of calm and relaxation. The beauty of breathwork is that it tends to bring us exactly what we need in that moment.

Is there anything I should do to prepare for the session?

Wear comfy and warm clothes that you can lay down in for 40+ min. Make sure you've eaten something earlier that day, but try not to arrive with a full belly. Avoid scheduling anything for right after the workshop - you'll probably need some spaciousness in your schedule to be gentle and rest.

Can I continue practicing this breathwork technique afterwards at home?

Absolutely. At the end of the workshop there will be time for q&a and we'll talk about how to incorporate this practice safely at home as part of your healing toolbox.

Can registrations be purchased at the door?

Registering in advance helps us set up the space for the number of people attending. However, if the class is not sold out, Venmo or PayPal payment can be used for day-of registration at the event.
