About this event

BIPOC Art leaders narrate the Bay Area art scene, interrogate the traditional fine arts narrative, dive into BIPOC cultural movements; honor essential contributions by BIPOC Bay Area artists.

This first conversation on Afrofuturism is moderated by Michelle Antoinette Nelson, an artist, innovator, and CEO of Brown and Healthy, a global initiative focusing on community engagement, strategic design, and wellness for people of color. The panelists, Ajuan Mance, Ashara Ekundayo, and Shogun Shido, are established and emerging artists, curators and culture makers in the SF Bay Area, each offering a unique perspective on the often challenging and frequently surprising topic of race: what it has meant to them as they have pursued and attained success in the arts.

Brought to you in collaboration by Shack 15, Immersive Arts Alliance, and Oakland Art Murmur.
