About this event

  • Event lasts 3 hours 30 minutes

Join The Amani Effect this October for our "Back 2 Roots" cultural cooking workshop as we will explore the rich culinary traditions of Congo! In this interactive session, we’ll prepare classic dishes like fufu, pondu, and sambusas, each carrying its own cultural importance. Fufu is a cherished staple, it brings people together in shared meals; Pondu is a hearty cassava leaf stew, it connects us to the land’s nourishment, and Sambusas are a symbol of celebration and togetherness.

Note this workshop is for Black youth ages 16 to 35

What to Expect:

  • Hands-on Cooking: Get involved in making fufu, pondu, and sambusas. Learn how to bring out the best flavors and create a dish that is delicious.
  • Cultural Significance: Learn the history and meaning behind these dishes, understanding how they play a vital role in Congolese community and culture.
  • Community Experience: Connect with others as we cook, share stories, and enjoy the meal together.
