Welcome to the Ambitious Women in Tech Series! Join us for an exciting event at UVA, Rice Hall.

Join us for an exciting in-person fireseide chat highlighting achievements of successful women in tech! We’ll hear from Kelly Doney, VP and CIO at the University of Virginia, about her career path and challenges and advantages of being a woman in tech. This is an excellent opportunity to learn and connect with other women who are excited about building a career in tech. Come be part of this empowering event!

Parking for Rice Hall is available in the football stadium parking lots that are right across Whitehead road from Rice Hall. Parking is free after 5:00pm.

Kelly Doney

UVA Vice President & Chief Information Officer

Kelly Doney is the Vice President & Chief Information Officer (CIO) at the University of Virginia, joining UVA in August 2023. Doney brings decades of experience in higher education, technology, and management consulting, serving as Vice President and Chief Information Officer at Villanova University before coming to UVA. Doney is responsible for oversight of the central Information Technology Services organization, including the planning and delivery of central information technology applications, infrastructure, user and classroom technology support, information security and policy, and research computing.

Prior to her time at Villanova, Doney served as Vice President of Digital Transformation at Ellucian Inc., a provider of software and services to the global higher education market. She previously was Associate Vice President for Enterprise Applications at Georgetown University, and has served in IT management and consulting roles at other organizations, including Deloitte Consulting and Booz Allen Hamilton.

Doney earned her bachelor’s degree in music and psychology from Ithaca College, and a Master of Science degree in experimental psychology from Syracuse University. She completed post-masters graduate work at Rice University.
