About this event

  • Event lasts 3 hours 30 minutes

AFRONOVA, the "New Africa", embodies the richness of Africa, reflecting a vibrant tapestry of cultures, traditions, and histories that transcend geographical boundaries. Africa is a continent of immense talent, where individuals of varying skin tones, skills, and beliefs unite under a shared ancestral heritage. Africa is more than just a continental place marker, it is a global identity, a force that extends beyond superficial spatial lines.

The African Students Association at UA and the broader University of Alabama (UA) where it housed embraces this narrative by welcoming students from every corner of the continent. The association and the university at large fosters a wholesome representation of Africa and enriches its academic and cultural landscape with the depth of perspectives that African students bring. A truly global African identity means recognizing and celebrating the interconnectedness of African people, whether from North, East, West, Central, or Southern Africa.

It is with this in mind that we are inviting everyone at UA, in Tuscaloosa, and beyond to join us on April 5th, 2025, as we celebrate Africa in all its fullness, in all its glorious pastness, and in all the new territories it has crossed into, all the new ways it has come to position itself in this ever-changing world.

Dress up the NOVA way, Dine, drink, Dance, and be merry with us on this auspicious occasion. The Africa of YESTERDAY, TODAY, and ALWAYS is waiting to welcome you with full pomp and circumstance.
