Applying the principles of recovery to address a tobacco use disorder allows for a rewarding, growth promoting process of behavior change. This presentation provides a strategy for developing an individualized tobacco recovery plan. Recommendations are made to help explore personal motivation, goal setting, how to manage temporary physical withdrawal, adapt to replacement coping skills, and embrace the mental, physical, and spiritual rewards of learning to be tobacco-free.
