Babson Hackathon 2020

The purpose of the Babson Business Analytics Club is to provide an opportunity for students to learn about business analytics applications, news, and tools from professionals in the industry.We accomplish this by organizing a variety of events that allow students to learn about the field as well as share their own analytics knowledge with others.

Undergrads and Grads hackathon in Data Analysis with a real problem and real data from Wayfair. Open to all Universities.

About this event: Babson Analytics club will be hosting the Hackathon again this year with a case provided by Wayfair. The hackathon is a data-focused competition that has taken place for a few years to showcase participant's analytical and entrepreneurial rigor in the annual Babson Analytics Hackathon. This is the opportunity to solve real problems with real data and present your insights in front of experts of Wayfair and have the opportunity to network with them as well as mentors from different companies. What you should expect?1)Students of teams of 4 register and participate to solve business challenges faced by Wayfair. 2) Students will attend a Kick-off event at Babson on March 2nd where the team of Wayfair will speak about the problem statement of the competition. The data will be released. Those who register as individuals will meet their team members during the event. 3) Each team will receive the notification of the mentor pairing and will have 10 to 15 days to connect and work with the guidance needed to solve the problem. 4) Additionally, BBAC will host 2 workshops, one on Tableau and other on Storytelling with Data to help the teams to have a solid base to come up with their insights and opportunities. 5) The teams will submit their final presentations and from them, we will choose 5 teams of Graduates and 5 teams of Undergrads as finalists to present their conclusions at the offices of Wayfair with senior judges from Wayfair by April 8th. After the presentation, there will be a networking session with the participant and the judges.6) 1st teams (Grads and Undergrads) will receive $400 and 2nd from Grads will receive $200. There is no need for any previous background in data analysis to participate, so we encourage you and your team to sign-up for learning and solve a real problem with data. If you don't have a team, don't worry, we will pair you with a team to participate!
