StCatsHacks is the first inter-school Hackathon held in Athens, Greece. High-school and university students interested in STEM will convene at St. Catherine’s British School for a two-day overnight programming competition. In teams of 4, with access to APIs and the guidance of dedicated mentors, students are called to create innovative computer programs which will be evaluated on their functionality and applicability in the real world. This year, on its 3rd version, the focus is on creating Hack for Humanity - we are hacking for hope. Examples of the application of such programs include aiding the refugee community, automating logistical processes in schools, but any idea of your own could be apt. Younger students (age 8 and above) are also welcome to discover the joy of technology and learn the basics of coding (Minecraft, Scratch, etc)Food will be available to all participants and winners will be receiving great prizes. We are computer science students from St. Catherine’s British School hoping to organize an inter-school Hackathon that will provide incentive people to put their innovative skills to the test and build something creative. The competitive nature of the Hackathon allows for rigorous and collaborative thinking. We hope to create an annual Hackathon for high-school (and university) students to showcase their skills in the field of STEM.
