Digital Equity and BEAD Planning Workshops

20 Broadband for All Digital Equity and BEAD Planning Workshops  held throughout the state. Participants will provide input on how future federal dollars may be allocated to achieve Broadband for All in their communities.

You are invited to a workshop to discuss broadband access and affordability in the San Diego region—and your input will help determine how federal dollars to address digital injustice are allocated in our region’s communities.In this workshop, the San Diego Association of Governments (SANDAG), Imperial Valley Economic Development Corporation (IVEDC), Imperial County Transportation Commission (ICTC), Southern Border Broadband Consortium (SBBC), California Department of Technology (CDT), and California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) are coming together to seek input that will inform the State Digital Equity Plan (SDEP) and Broadband Equity, Access, and Deployment (BEAD) Five-Year Action Plan.Together these groups are working to close the digital divide and invite community members from all walks of life to take part by sharing their experiences with connectivity and adoption issues, device access, and knowledge/training about how to use devices.We are working with partners to ensure the State Digital Equity Plan and BEAD Program meet the needs of all Californians, especially those who have been historically left behind, including:<ul><li>Households with incomes at or below 150% of the federal poverty level</li><li>Aging individuals 60+</li><li>Incarcerated individuals (other than individuals who are incarcerated in a federal correctional facility</li><li>Veterans</li><li>Individuals with disabilities</li><li>Individuals with a language barriers (including English language learners)</li><li>Individuals who are members of a racial or ethnic minority group</li><li>Individuals who primarily reside in a rural area</li><li>Individuals who identify as LGBTQ+</li><li>Individuals who identify as female or as a woman</li></ul>Attendees will have the opportunity to learn more about the digital equity plan, provide feedback on how to make it more effective, and connect with others who are passionate about digital equity in California.*If you require special accommodations to participate, please let us know that when you register.

An opportunity to meet in person with CDT, CPUC, and GO-BIZ executives who are leading the State's work on broadband infrastructure deployment, including: Middle-Mile Broadband Initiative (CDT & GoldenStateNet); Last-Mile Programs: CPUC California Advanced Services Fund (CASF), Federal Funding Account (FFA), and Loan Loss Reserve Fund; and Broadband Equity Access Deployment (BEAD) Plan to secure California's share of federal funding from the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA or Bipartisan Infrastructure Law), and regional collaboration as it relates to permitting.
