What is dsmHack?dsmHack is a not-for-profit organization working to elevate and strengthen the community by building software, learning from each other and giving back. The organization centers around the idea of“Build.Learn.Give.”, which includes building technology solutions and relationships throughout the community, learning new skills or thought processes and giving time and skills to nonprofits who need, but cannot afford it.Our VisionWe envision a community where technology is never a barrier to doing good.Our MissionCreate opportunities to connect local nonprofit organizations and technologists to cultivate organizational and individual growth.

dsmHack is an annual 48 hour hackathon benefiting Iowa nonprofit organizations

All volunteer spots for dsmHack have been SOLD OUT.  But we have a waitlist! To join the waitlist, click on the "Tickets" button and you will be prompted to join the waitlist. If someone is unable to attend and a spot opens up, we will notify those on our waitlist. Once notified, spots must be claimed within one day or the spot will be released to the next person on the list.

There is a wealth of technology talent in the Des Moines area and amazing nonprofits that continue to help Central Iowa win awards as one of the country's best place to live. In an effort to team technical resources with the nonprofits of this community, we've created this event to bring the best of both worlds together.From May 4-6, these two groups will come together to build and implement tools to make the area's nonprofits operate more effectively so they can continue to focus on doing good. Through this event, we will learn a significant amount about the needs of local organizations and how we can work together to make this community stronger!Ticket sales open Tuesday, January 17, 2023 at 10am CST.Hope to see you there!FAQsHow can I contact the organizer with any questions?Shoot us an email at info@dsmhack.org and we'll be happy to help!What precautions are you taking for the COVID-19 pandemic?During the event, we encourage the use of masks in crowded spaces and a distance of at least 6ft from other participants and attendees whenever possible. Masks and guidelines are subject to change based on mandates made by a governing entity. Why is my ticket $28.16 and not $25 as the event listing states?We use Eventbrite to handle our ticketing as there are several valuable features that they offer that are essential to managing an event of this nature. As we are a nonprofit, we're passing the ticket processing fees onto participants as to not impact our bottom line and, in turn, our event budget. The ticket gets you meals, drinks (including beer!), a shirt and snacks during the 48 hours.What's the refund policy?There are no refunds for this event.Is my registration fee or ticket transferrable?Yes. Your ticket is transferrable. If you are unable to make the event, please try to find someone to take your place and you can transfer your spot to them via Eventbrite. In the event you cannot find a replacement, please notify info@dsmhack.org ASAP so that we can open your spot to the waitlist.We base the number of nonprofit projects on our number of registered attendees. Having a full roster of participants is essential to delivering completed projects to our nonprofits during the event.
