Accelerating ScienceOur vision for <a href="https://www.the-innovation-game.com" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">The Innovation Game</a> is to increase the rate at which we discover breakthroughs in inverse methods; algorithms by which nature is reverse engineered from observations, and are fundamental to all science. Breakthroughs in the area of inverse methods will drastically accelerate scientific and technological progress by transforming the tractability of problems in a way that neither Moore&#x27;s Law nor additional compute power can, and will underpin the fourth paradigm of science where we seek to learn from increasing amounts of data. Cambridge H﻿ackathonHosted in partnership with Cambridge Blockchain Society (https://cambridgeblockchain.org/)O﻿bjectiveE﻿arn as many tokens as possible over the course of the Hackathon.Participants can form Teams of up to 3 people. The £1,000 prize pool will be distributed amongst Teams pro-rata with the number of tokens earnt.Teams earn tokens by Innovating and/or Benchmarking:* (Innovate) Submit algorithms every 2 hours. Improving other Teams&#x27; algorithms is allowed. Earn tokens when Benchmarkers solve instances of computational challenges using your algorithm.* (Benchmark) Select algorithms to use. Earn tokens from solving instances of computational challenges.C﻿hallenge TypesT﻿his hackathon will feature 3 types of computational challenges:1. Boolean Satisfiability (3SAT) - a classical problem in logic and computer science. Craft an algorithm to determine if there exists a combination of TRUE / FALSE values that satisfies a Boolean formula.2. Capacitated Vehicle Routing Problem - a combination of the classical Travelling Salesman Problem and the Knapsack Problem. Craft an algorithm that finds routes which are at least 15% shorter than a naive greedy algorithm.3. Offworld Trading Company - a computer game of economic warfare taking place on Mars. Develop an AI to buyout the opponent AI&#x27;s corporation within 7 Martian days.(﻿Mohawk Games, the developer, has provided us with Steam Keys to freely give to participants)Setting up &amp; W﻿orkshop HoursTo participate you will need to bring your laptop and install Docker, a code editor for C# (e.g. Visual Studio 2022), have a github account, and install Offworld Trading Company.L﻿eading up to the Hackathon, we will be hosting workshops on our <a href="http://discord.the-innovation-game.com/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Discord </a>to help you get setup. These will take place 4-5pm on 1st, 6th and 8th December.
