What is the Wizeline Hackathon?
Wizeline's first public hackathon is an opportunity to celebrate Guadalajara as the ‘Silicon Valley of Mexico’ and bring the tech community together to build technology that helps project teams work better.  
As Latin America's tech community grows, we collectively serve more international customers with distributed teams. As teams become more distributed, our community must find scalable ways to collaborate, improve communication, and help teams hit deadlines. We challenge participants to deliver technology-based solutions that address these problems.

What is the event schedule?
The hackathon will be held from Saturday June 2nd to Sunday June 3rd.

The Wizeline Guadalajara campus will be open for the duration of the hackathon, with food, drinks and workspace available for participants. 
What are the rules and guidelines?

<LI>
Participant teams will code and deliver a working product that helps distributed teams work better together.
</LI>
<LI>
Teams must start from zero, with an empty repo, provided by GitHub. Each team is provided AWS credits to set up their development environments.
</LI>
<LI>
Teams are limited to 5 contributors. We strongly recommend that teams include at least one participant with english language skills in order to deliver the final demo. 
</LI>
<LI>
All work must be completed within the designated 24 hour window (June 2 @ 12pm - June 3 @ 12pm CDT)
</LI>
<LI>
Final demos limited to 5 min each. English language strongly recommended. 
</LI>
<LI>
A panel of judges will evaluate each team’s presentation. Judges include: Wendy Johansson (Wizeline), Matt Pasienski (Wizeline), Max Apodaca (AWS), Rigoberto Vega (WeWork)

Judging criteria include magnitude of problem addressed, technical skill required in solution, and quality of final demo. 
</LI>

What are prizes for winning the Wizeline Hackathon?
Winners can win double! Choose to donate your winnings to the Wizeline Scholarship for Women in <A HREF="http://holacode.com/" TARGET="_blank" DATA-MSYS-CLICKTRACK="0" REL="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Holacode</A> and Wizeline will match 100%. 
Holacode is a Mexican social enterprise with the mission of promoting access to high demand employment for returned youth to the country from the United States. They teach a 5 month engineering bootcamp and help graduates gain employment in tech companies in Mexico.  
The Wizeline Scholarship for Women in Holacode encourages women to apply for the bootcamp program with scholarship support. Our goal is to support and introduce more women into technology roles through this endeavor.

Can I join from outside of Guadalajara?
Yes! We welcome virtual participation from other locations in Latin America. We will stream the event on Facebook Live, and will have a Google Hangout available for remote participants to interact with Wizeline Ambassadors. Remote participants can deliver demos over the Hangout. Final demos will be broadcast on the livestream.
