We offer practical business support to enterprising students from all disciplines who aspire to run their own business or social enterprise. We also welcome those who are interested in gaining extra skills but don't want to set up a business.EXPLOREyour potential through one of our practical Enterprise Skills Workshops.EXPERIENCEdeveloping your idea through one of our Enterprise Challenges.EXECUTEyour business idea in our dedicated campus incubator.Whether you are a First Year student, Early Career Researcher or at any stage of your university journey, we can equip you with training, mentoring, office space, and funding to help you to get your business up and running. University of Surrey Alumni (within the last 5 years) are also welcome to attend our sessions. Take charge of your personal development and gain transferable skills such public speaking, generating ideas and how to pitch with success to enhance your employability.Please note that our events are open to University of Surrey students only. <h3>D﻿o You Want To Make A Positive Impact?</h3>Join this interactive workshop based on a real social enterprise in India who are positively disrupting the waste management and women’s empowerment sector, has been supported by the UNDP and is addressing 14/17 UN Sustainable Development Goals. P﻿rojectCHAKRA is an award winning programme that has been run across several Universities and even for UNICEF. The project is linked with the UNDP and has seen past students go on to internships in social enterprises in India!T﻿his experiential workshop is lauded as a transformative experience looking into to an empathetic approach to social enterprise. It will challenge your entrepreneurial skills, emotional intelligence and creative thinking, using simulation role-play to dive into the problem at hand.T﻿his workshop will encompass 3 main components:First, you will play the role of one of several stakeholders in a complex system:Put yourself into the shoes of others to build an understanding of their needs and concerns, through which you will understand the drivers of the current urban waste management problem.Second, solve the problem:Take the role of a social entrepreneur, and build a sustainable business model to address the problem you have just experienced.Third, we invite you to help us drive innovation: The urban waste management problem is vast and the solution needs to scale while keeping women’s empowerment the core focus. W﻿hen you attend you will be asked if you would like to opt in to the following prize if you have not already. This is an optional but sensational prize for 3 top performing students who will be selected based on their performance at the hackathon and their application form.<h2>P﻿rize Information:</h2>Three top student participants will be selected to join us at the UKSAEI Symposium 2022 - Student Entrepreneurship &amp; Innovation Event for the UKSAEI Hackathon where you will work in teams with UK &amp; Singapore University students create a product, service or campaign to tackle the Sustainable Development Goals and spend one week in Singapore! Who: 3 top performing participants from the ProjectCHAKRA workshopWhen: 12th - 16th December this yearW﻿hat: A free trip to SIngapore to join the week of activities including another hacakthon where you will:1. Reimagine a world with your team’s ideas. Be a part of the conversation as you create a pitch presentation to address challenges based around the UN sustainability goals. 2. Bring your skills, interests and personal strengths to the team! Collaborate with students from UK and Singapore universities - together we can embrace diverse perspectives and understand the world around us better to find solutions that can have a real impact on local communities. 3. No prior experience is required to take part - all academic disciplines are desirable; all personal interests are welcomed and all life experiences are valuable! Join us with an open mind and a drive to learn. 4. Gain exclusive access to meet up-and-coming local start-ups, industry experts and investors and visit innovation entities such as University Innovation Hubs in Singapore. 5. Be mentored by industry experts to be ready for the final pitch presentations. *Field trips will include visits to University Entrepreneurship &amp; Innovation facilities, networking with start-ups, Entrepreneurship &amp; Innovation -related government agencies and corporates In between the fixed sessions you will meet with your team mates and have the opportunity to have pitch practice with experienced business mentors who will provide feedback in your teams. ** The UKSAEI student enterprise event is organised by the UKSAEI **
