Baseball Hackday San Diego

Baseball Hack Day is an annual on-site, in-person hacking event (also known as hackathon, hack fest or code fest) where baseball minds come together, form a team, and collaborate to create baseball-related projects to compete in a friendly one-day competition.  Born in Boston, spring of 2012, Baseball Hack Day is a grass-roots, open-sourced "movement," held at the same day at different locations all around the world. The goal of the day is to bring creative tech minds into one room, and see what they can produce within a limited time. The project could be (but is not limited to) a tool, simple web app, mobile app, website, game or data visualization.

Are you a baseball fanatic or techie looking for an opportunity to demonstrate your skills? Then you are in for a real treat as Baseball Hack Day (BHD) gears up for their 6th year! On Saturday March 17th, multiple cities throughout the United States and Canada will host a 1 day hackathon to open up the baseball season. This year’s event takes place simultaneously in Boston, Chicago, Montreal, DC, and here in San Diego. It’s a day where creative minds come together and see what cool projects can be created within a limited time.The project could be (but is not limited to) a tool, simple web app, mobile app, website, or data visualization. There is no cost to attend and participate in the event, but there are limited spots available, so we encourage you to book early!
The event will be hosted by Learn Academy in the heart of Downtown San Diego adjacent from Petco Park, home of the San Diego Padres.
The full-day phenomenon will include breakfast, lunch and a bevy of snacks. We will also end with an award ceremony to present the winning project.
Designers, developers, statisticians, marketers, and baseball enthusiasts alike are welcome!

How much does it cost? Is this a private event?
The event is free and open to the public.
Do I need to know how to code or have software experience?
No formal software development experience needed but someone on your team should have some coding experience.
Do I need to bring a laptop?
Computer workstations and software will be provided; however, you are free to bring your own laptop or computer.
