Hack The Bully : Hackathon to End Cyberbullying

<DIV>Nearly 43% of kids have been bullied online with 1 in 4 saying it has happened more than once. Suicide is th second leading cause of death for adolescents, teens and emerging adults ages 10-24. With nearly 70% of kids saying that online bullying is a serious problem, something has to be done. We believe cyberbullying needs to end. </DIV>

<DIV><SPAN>As a result, Tacky Box, a Dallas based company dedicated to creating systemic change in the way children treat one another, is partnering with Atmos Energy and The Dallas Entrepreneur Center</SPAN><SPAN> </SPAN><SPAN><SPAN>to host a Hackathon.  "Hack the Bully,” which will take place at The DEC on February 23-24, is laser focused on bringing together like-minded people who want to build an online solution to end cyberbullying and combat related depression, anxiety, and the escalating number of suicides in this age </SPAN><SPAN>group</SPAN><SPAN>.</SPAN></SPAN></DIV>

<DIV>If you are a hacker who is interested in this fight, please join us for Hack The Bully along with special guests Matt and Maurine Molak, who tragically lost their 16 year-old son, David, to a cyberbullying related suicide, founded David’s Legacy Foundation, and were responsible for the recently passed anti-cyberbullying legislation entitled David’s Law.</DIV>

<DIV>We will meet at the Dallas Entrepreneur Center at 4:00 pm on Friday, Feb 23rd. We will review proposed solutions and MVP products in the works at 6:00 pm Saturday, February 24. Prizes include $3,000 for First Place, $2,000 for Second Place, and $1,000 for Third Place along with other exciting experiential prizes. We look forward to seeing a smart group of programmers working diligently to attack this problem head on!</DIV>
