Bio: <A HREF="https://www.linkedin.com/in/hughkarp/" TARGET="_blank" DATA-MSYS-CLICKTRACK="0" REL="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Hugh Karp</A> is an insurance professional and actuary with over 15 years of experience in the insurance industry. He has held a variety of roles in both primary and reinsurance companies and is currently the CFO for a global reinsurers’ Life operations in the UK. He has a keen interest in blockchain technology with a particular focus on the fundamental business change it can enable.
Abstract: Mutuality is the original insurance structure, run by the community, for the community. Despite the attractions, the mutual has largely disappeared, being overpowered by much larger profit driven companies. Blockchain technology can solve the fundamental problems of the mutual by allowing them to scale.
