No longer is diversity a luxury for employers. It is now a necessity to being competitive and building a high-performance organization. During this panel, we will get answers to questions such as, Are American companies too one dimensional in their approach to diversity? How are we bringing non-traditional perspectives to the table? How should we properly understand the concept of diversity? What are the strides Atlanta companies have and are making towards more inclusive and diverse workplaces?

Kathryn Petralia
President and Co-Founder, Kabbage Inc
 
Technology has played a role in Kathryn Petralia’s life since her parents gave her a TRS-80 computer at age nine. When Rob Frohwein shared his idea for Kabbage with Kathryn, she immediately saw the value in using technology to reexamine lending.  Before co-founding Kabbage, Kathryn spent nearly 15 years working with large and small companies.

Melissa Koehler

Melissa is a technology leader delivering world-class solutions, having done so in the media industry for over 18 years. She’s the co-founder of Ladies in Tech @ Turner and shares a board seat for the Atlanta chapter of <A HREF="http://AnitaB.org" TARGET="_blank" DATA-MSYS-CLICKTRACK="0" REL="nofollow noopener noreferrer">AnitaB.org</A> where she’s able to apply her passion for supporting and developing women in technology.

Paris N. Walters, Honeywell 
 She began her career in Software Development after attending her first Hackathon in 2015. After experiencing first hand the excitement in software development, She changed her major from Electrical Engineering at GA Tech to Software Engineer at Kennesaw State University.  She is currently, a Software Engineer Intern at a Fortune 500 company that is listed as "The World's Most Admired Companies" for the 11th consecutive years. Currently, she is a leader in her community for Code For Atlanta and Black Girls Code.

Marcellus Haynes
He is an independent software consultant and founder of the Technologists of Color, an organization that provides a platform for growth of Blacks in technology. Technologists of Color was created in 2012 as a meetup group on <A HREF="http://meetup.com" TARGET="_blank" DATA-MSYS-CLICKTRACK="0" REL="nofollow noopener noreferrer">meetup.com</A> and now boasts almost 2,200 members. Marcellus holds a degree in computer engineering from the University of Florida and is an active member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc.

Frank Lamar,  Senior Software Engineer at The Home Depot. 
 
After falling in love with coding, he left a career in public service to craft quality software fulltime. In addition to his Software Engineering role at The Home Depot, Frank serves on the Intern Committee where he volunteers his time to recruit and mentor college students and new engineers. Frank also serves on the Curriculum Advisory Board of Kennesaw State University’s College of Computing and Software Engineering. When he is not behind a keyboard, you can find Frank flying drones, reading a sci-fi novel, or leading some cub scouts on an outdoor adventure.
