Before the auction begins, enjoy taking a sneak peek at what we have to offer during our reception. There will be free soft drinks and hors d'oeuvres. Salmagundi and the art it represents is enjoying a renaissance, well documented in recent articles in Wall Street Journal and other publications. Original works of art, including historic works from Salmagundi Clubs archive collection will be offered.Salmagundi auctions have operated continuously since the late 1870’s. “With starting prices as low as $150, all set at 30% of typical gallery prices, this is a unique opportunity to own a piece of American art history”, says Nick Dawes, Salmagundi Chairman who acts as live auctioneer.This auction will be in 2 parts: an evening session on Friday, October 21 that will be live in Salmagundi's skylight gallery at 8pm, and an afternoon session that will be online only on Saturday, October 22 at noon. All works offered are by Salmagundi members and professionally framed. This year, 50 works will be available to see in our skylight gallery. The rest will be shipped directly from the artist, allowing a unique opportunity for patrons and artists to interact. Bidders will also have the opportunity to bid on commissions for portraits, still life and architectural paintings from leading artists.
