<H2>BRIGHT Cow Hackathon - help our dairy farmers!</H2>
Are you looking for the next cool hackathon with a purpose? We're looking for hackers, startups or anyone with a good idea to keep the land, the cows and local family farms sustainable, healthy and happy!
The dairy sector is already very innovative, milk and ‘mest’ robots are part of any modern farm, but what can we do to make the dairy sector even more sustainable and efficient? What are the many creative technical solutions? or what is the marketing potential to make the sector more transparent and likeable..?

<H2>Challenge: </H2>
In the Netherlands there is increasing pressure to meet energy goals and continue improvements in livestock health and welfare. Farmers need work more efficiently, at the same time ensuring animals can live a natural environment and protect the bio-diversity. 
Here are some examples, help farmers to:

smartly use weather data to improve the cow’s welfare and feeding policies 
</LI>
<LI>
get insights in which fields are most suitable for grazing at a certain moment
</LI>
<LI>
compare how the cow or heard’s productivity compares to other farms
</LI>
<LI>
create optimal circularity and sustainable distribution of manure (‘mest')
</LI>
<LI>
get apps to easily track and monitor the whereabouts of a cow or herd
</LI>
</UL>
 
We are looking to help the farmers in the dairy sector with many economic and environmental challenges. All ideas are welcome, for example better management systems of efficiency & effectiveness, tools to lower costs and accelerate co2 reduction, but also marketing and storytelling solutions to make the sector more transparent and likeable!

The BRIGHT Cow Hackathon will take place at the Jaarbeurs in Utrecht 18-19 November. This event will be taking place during the BRIGHT Day tech-trade show so unfortunately the facility will be closed from Saturday night 6pm to 9am Sunday morning. (so there is no sleeping accommodation available to participants).

<H2>Location & Check In:</H2>
Between 8:30 and 9:00 please check in at the BRIGHT Day general entrance and present your Eventbright Cow Hackathon ticket to our volunteer at “Hackathon Sign”. 
You can find the Hack Pavilion located in a glass greenhouse behind the Main Lab (next to the Food Lab)

<H2>Getting There:</H2>
You can find the Bright Day in the Jaarbeurs Hal 7 en 8
By Car: Jaarbeursplein 1, Utrecht
By Public Transport: Utrecht Centraal
 
You can find parking the Jaarbeurs: P2 + P3 + P4.
4 euro per uur to a maximum of 16 hours per day
Reservations are possible.
 
P&R Westraven is the cheapest. 
The Jaarbeurs is wheelchair friendly

<H2>Prizes</H2>
The winning team will take home the €2000 cash prize and (where possible) teams can test and continue development with a launching customer.
 
<HR>
<H2>Tickets:</H2>
Teams are required to pay a €15 deposit to avoid no-shows. Individuals will be reimbursed upon arrival at event.

We supply breakfasts, lunches, coffee, soda’s, snacks and water will be available all day, as well as glasses of milk!

<H2>Rules and regulations:</H2>
All intellectual property of your creations remains with you, within the limits of Dutch law. 
 
<HR>
<H2>Jury</H2>
The jury will be made up from backgrounds in Farming, Technology, Business & MultiMedia. The Jury will be scoring the proposals based on the following criteria:

Value: Does the solution solve an actual problem for the dairy farmer, 
</LI>
<LI>
Technical - Does the solution work functionally, can it be tested in a live environment? 
</LI>
<LI>
Viability: Is this solution practical for farmers, is it commercially viable?
</LI>
<LI>
Originality: Is the solution unique or a novel approach for farmers, cows or environment?
</LI>
</UL>
