Colony 5 is a venture studio accelerator collaborating across public/private teams to establish a cyberinfrastructure for distressed communities. Our focus is driven by developing sustainable tech-enabled entrepreneurs to thrive and scale globally while seated in local communities.We are smart community architects dedicated to placing a lens on the science and benefit of launching clusters of tech-enabled businesses into distressed retail corridors. We promote the education in and utilization of smart city infrastructures through information sessions, access, and connectivity to key resources focused on growing local economies.Colony 5 is collaborating across several key partnerships to include: Englewood Small Business Development Corporation (Englewood SBDC), the Aronne National Labs AoT Team, Chicago’s Departments of Innovation and Technology, Planning and Development, Illinois Green Buildings Council, Rocket Wagon Enterprise IoT & Digital services, Chicago Beverage Systems, Reyes Holdings and Great Lakes Coca Cola.We are smart community architects dedicated to placing a lens on the science and benefit of launching clusters of tech-enabled businesses into distressed retail corridors. <P>Colony 5 and partners are offering workshops to help provide information and inspiration for entrepreneurs interested in constructing a solid design approach and competing in the Civic Tech Challenge Hackathon <SPAN>November </SPAN>3rd - 5th.</P>
<P><SPAN>The Colony 5 Civic Tech Challenge wants potential Idea Leaders to think and design “</SPAN><EM>into the future</EM><SPAN>” by weaving innovation into the fabric of their business concept for interaction with technologies like the Internet of Things, Wearables, Driverless cars, etc.  </SPAN><BR><BR><SPAN>Our workshop helps you build upon your idea and help you understand tools and opportunities available to tradition and </SPAN><EM>NewCos.</EM><SPAN>  </SPAN><BR><BR><SPAN>For example, if you’re opening a chicken shack, maybe you deliver orders via drone.  Maybe the chicken drone is a business unto itself.</SPAN><BR><BR><SPAN>The Colony 5 Civic Tech Challenge runs from August 1st thru October 31st with a call to action for Idea Leaders to join this citywide apps competition.  No coding experience is required.</SPAN></P>
