Accenture Digital launches the first edition of Connected Hackathon in Dubai, aimed at start-ups, students, recent graduates, creative designers, developers, data analysts and marketers.

Accenture Digital Hackathon - Connected edition
Accenture Digital launches its third edition of hackathon, "Accenture Digital Hackathon - Connected Edition" which will be held simultaneously in Rome, Dubai, Prague, London, Dortmund, Madrid, Amsterdam and Istanbul, and will be aimed at students, recent graduates, creative designers, developers, data analysts and marketers.
The goal of the challenge is to prototype ideas, services and products that can create both an economic and social value for the area and community. This may be achieved through the smart use of everyday objects, open data, open source libraries, framework for fast prototyping and software development, microcontrollers, sensors, and hardware components (namely 3D printers, beacons, wearables, etc.).
The event will be a challenging 24-hour marathon, and an opportunity for all the brilliant and talented participants to realize their potential with the support of mentors and experts from Accenture who will be present all day, along with jury members. Accenture Digital Hackathon will be an adrenaline fueled environment and an exciting opportunity to meet with people who share the same passion for digital and new technologies, and an opportunity in which to spend an unforgettable time.
Participation is open to groups already formed, (minimum of three and maximum of five participants per group), or individual participation. Those taking part will be able to create their own team on site independently or with the support of Accenture mentors.
On the second day the judges will decide on the top three winners locally at each hackathon location, and the top team will get to compete with their counterpart top teams in the different hackathon locations. This is the essence of the connected Hackathon: top competing teams across different geographies!
 
Why participate?
The Accenture Digital Hackathon is a real challenge in which talent and creativity are used in innovative ways to transform ideas into practical solutions. The challenge will allow participants to showcase their knowledge, share experiences and their ideas in a limited time setting. The event will also provide an opportunity to integrate skills, and network into a larger pool of ideas. And of course, do not forget the prizes!
Dubai Winning teams will be awarded to following prizes by the panel of judges:

<LI>1st place team: a prize of an amount of €500 for each team member (~2.000 dirhams)</LI>
<LI>2nd place team: a prize of an amount of €300 for each team member (~1.200 dirhams)</LI>
<LI>3rd place team: a prize of an amount of €200 for each team member (~800 dirhams)</LI>
</UL>
The top three teams overall will receive the following international prizes:
<UL>
<LI>1st place team: 1 voucher in the amount of €1000 for each team member</LI>
<LI>2nd place team: 1 voucher in the amount of €600 for each team member</LI>
<LI>3rd place team: 1 voucher in the amount of €400 for each team member</LI>
</UL>
The international prizes consist of vouchers for Amazon.com.

International: If the winning team (up to 5 people) resides outside of the UAE:
The opportunity for the winning team (up to 5 people) to present its idea to the Expo 2020 Dubai organizers, including a return trip to Dubai with 2-night stay.
UAE: If the winning team (up to 5 people) resides in UAE:
Opportunity to present its idea to the Expo 2020 Dubai team, plus 2-night stay in a Hotel in Dubai, including pick up and drop off from the same location.
Terms and Conditions:

<LI>Trip is subject to availability upon definition of the dates.</LI>
<LI>Single return economy ticket (direct flight where available) per winner, non-transferrable and non-refundable. </LI>
<LI>Single Room occupancy and breakfast for 2 nights in Dubai.</LI>
<LI>Per diem allowance of AED of 450 per participant.</LI>
<LI>Hotel and Airline to be defined by Expo 2020 Dubai.</LI>
<LI>Black out period during the Festive Season: 15th Dec 2016- 7th Jan 2017.</LI>

<LI>The winning team must travel together to present the project to Expo 2020 Dubai team at the same time. </LI>
<LI>The tickets and Hotel booking confirmation will be sent electronically to each winner.</LI>

How the teams should be formed? 
The morning of the event: participants can form teams as they see fit, and the teams will remain active for the entire duration of the event.
As stated above, teams will comprise of a minimum of 3 to a maximum of 5 participants, and contain at least one designer, a developer and a marketing specialist. The presence of a data analyst is recommended but not mandatory.
 
Who would judge and select a winner?
The teams will be judged by a jury made up of industry experts and professionals from Accenture.
What is the evaluation criteria for selecting the winning team?
The jury will analyze and evaluate all works submitted by the team according to the following four criteria:

When and where the event will take place?

Will Accenture own the intellectual property rights of the product codes by the individuals or teams taking part?
No, the code produced by each individual or team during the Hackathon will be the property of the writer.
