Aging2.0 Washington D.C. | Hacking Accessibility 
Join the Washington, D.C. chapter of Aging2.0 for an exciting mini hackathon! 
Accessible products and spaces are important to people of all abilities and ages. When we design for all, communities flourish and everyone benefits from the social, political and economic growth sparked by such inclusivity. Join the #A2DC Chapter as we spend the evening using collaborative problem solving to propose solutions to the most pertinent accessibility issues in the disability and aging fields today. For this hackathon, participants will have one hour to select a topic, create a hypothetical solution and prepare a verbal presentation to be given to the judges. The best solution of the evening will win a cash prize!
Special Note to Attendees Who Plan to Hack: When you arrive at the event, please form teams of 3-4 people. As a team, please choose one problem statement from a list of problem statements, created by our Expert Facilitators. You will have one hour to hack. During that one hour, you will have access to our Expert Facilitators who can provide feedback and insight on the problem statement your team has chosen. Within that one hour, you will need to create a 2 minute verbal presentation that you will then present to our panel of judges. Judges will decide on a winner! Finally, we encourage all hackers to check out the <A HREF="http://162.144.124.243/~longevl0/designchallenge2016-17/" TARGET="_blank" DATA-MSYS-CLICKTRACK="0" REL="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Stanford Center on Longevity Design Challenge</A> and submit any ideas they may have for that challenge.
Innovation Opportunity Statements to Hack:
1. Create a set of incentives to increase the supply of universally designed homes that are affordable
2. More than 2.5 million people are treated for falls each year. What solution could minimize injuries?
3. There is a great need for homes to be made accessible with a zero step entry. How can the need to use steps be eliminated or minimized?
4. How can the housing industry and health care system coordinate services to ensure accessibility as we age?
5. What solution could address the accessibility barrier of entering a bathtub or shower stall? 
6. Many people aging in place in the community are in need of multiple types of assistive services. What solution would allow you to triage need within the community so that effective and evidence-based interventions can occur in order to avoid costly medical crises?
