The Educators' Lab

Join us for the inaugural School Ideas Drive, an event connecting teachers to local organizations with great ideas in education.
Whether you're interested in STEM, Mind, Brain, and Education (MBE), teacher leadership opportunities, new ideas in literacy or tech we're sure you can find something useful for you and your students. Choose an idea that inspires you, and work with organization representatives to develop an action plan to bring that new idea or pedagogical practice back to your classroom.

The School Ideas Drive will take place on October 7, 2017 at St. Andrew's Epsicopal School in Potomac, MD. The day is divided into four parts:

TeacherHack 
Using the Educator Canvas – Teachers, with the support of local organizations, will have the time to create an action plan of how they plan to connect their classrooms to the community in a way that best addresses their students' needs and interests.   
 
Master of Ceremony:
Michelle Blanchet is an educator and founder of <A HREF="https://www.educatorslab.io/" TARGET="_blank" DATA-MSYS-CLICKTRACK="0" REL="nofollow noopener noreferrer">The Educators’ Lab</A>, which supports teacher driven solutions to educational challenges. She taught sociology and economics, and has presented at numerous events including SXSWedu and TEDxLausanne. Michelle is a professional development consultant for PBS Education and a designer for the Center for Transformative Teaching and Learning.
Kerri Balint is an educator, designer, and co-founder of <A HREF="http://www.trelliseducation.org/" TARGET="_blank" DATA-MSYS-CLICKTRACK="0" REL="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Trellis Education</A>, a non-profit that supports secondary STEM teachers through long-term models of teacher education and professional learning. A d.school trained design-thinker, she has coached schools, districts, and edtech start-ups in how to use human-centered design to inspire meaningful solutions to problems they face. Kerri has a M.A. from Stanford University in Learning, Design, and Technology, B.A. from Vanderbilt University, and taught 5th and 8th grade Math.
