We're a group of programmers, technologists, hackers and fans of spreading technical knowlege to tomorrow's hackers.

<H1>What is Hack the Future?</H1>
<P><SPAN STYLE="font-size: medium;">Hack the Future is an all-day party / hackathon to show you what it's like to be a hacker and see if it's for you. We won't tell you what to do. You'll be free to work on whatever you want. We'll try to keep you from getting stuck, and we'll give you a place to start (if you want one). This is a unique opportunity to learn about state-of-the-art software, hardware design, and engineering from mentors working for Bay Area startups as well as big companies like Google, Nvidia, Intel, Facebook and Microsoft.</SPAN></P>

<H1>What can I do at Hack the Future?</H1>
<P><SPAN STYLE="font-size: medium;">You might learn how to:</SPAN></P>
<UL>
<LI><SPAN STYLE="line-height: 1.6em; font-size: medium;">Make your own video games</SPAN></LI>
<LI><SPAN STYLE="line-height: 1.6em; font-size: medium;">Learn to solder electronics</SPAN></LI>
<LI><SPAN STYLE="line-height: 1.6em; font-size: medium;">Create a webpage</SPAN></LI>
<LI><SPAN STYLE="line-height: 1.6em; font-size: medium;">Make mods for existing games like Minecraft</SPAN></LI>
<LI><SPAN STYLE="line-height: 1.6em; font-size: medium;">Create things using a 3D printer</SPAN></LI>
<LI><SPAN STYLE="line-height: 1.6em; font-size: medium;">Design and present a new product</SPAN></LI>
<LI><SPAN STYLE="line-height: 1.6em; font-size: medium;">And a ton more</SPAN></LI>

<H1>What hackers need to do:</H1>

<LI><SPAN STYLE="line-height: 1.6em; font-size: medium;">Visit our website and <A TITLE="Software" HREF="http://hackthefuture.org/software.html" DATA-MSYS-CLICKTRACK="0" REL="nofollow noopener noreferrer">install the recommended programs</A>.</SPAN></LI>
<LI><SPAN STYLE="line-height: 1.6em; font-size: medium;">Bring laptop's administrator password to install programs.</SPAN></LI>
<LI><SPAN STYLE="line-height: 1.6em; font-size: medium;">Ask questions!  Try new things, and have fun!</SPAN></LI>

<H1>What parents need to do:</H1>

<LI><SPAN STYLE="line-height: 1.6em; font-size: medium;">Ensure that your child has the Administrator Password for their laptop.</SPAN></LI>
<LI><SPAN STYLE="font-family: 'Helvetica Neue', Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: medium; line-height: 1.6em;">Check hackers in at the event at 10:00am, along with these items:</SPAN></LI>

<LI><SPAN STYLE="font-family: 'Helvetica Neue', Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: medium; line-height: 1.6em;">Come back at 3:45pm to see the Lightning Talks (voluntary presentations on what hackers have been working on).</SPAN></LI>

<H2 STYLE="padding-left: 30px;"><SPAN STYLE="font-size: large;">Additional Notes to Parents</SPAN></H2>
<H3 STYLE="padding-left: 30px;"><SPAN STYLE="font-size: medium;">1. Help us create an environment of independent exploration</SPAN></H3>
<P STYLE="padding-left: 30px;"><SPAN STYLE="font-size: medium;">Parents are highly encouraged to drop participants off and let them explore independently, although you're welcome to check in on them if needed. Come back and check out your hackers at 5 pm; we'll need to clean up, and our volunteer mentors have to stay with your child until he or she is picked up. </SPAN></P>
<H3 STYLE="padding-left: 30px;"><SPAN STYLE="font-size: medium;">2. Sign out after you leave with your hacker</SPAN></H3>
<P STYLE="padding-left: 30px;"><SPAN STYLE="font-size: medium;">Parents please remember to sign your child out of the event! Any names which we do not have parent signatures for check-out are given a follow up by HTF volunteers to verify that your child has been picked up, so please do our volunteers a favor and save them an unnecessary call.</SPAN></P>
<H3 STYLE="padding-left: 30px;"><SPAN STYLE="font-size: medium;">3. Only get a ticket for the hacker</SPAN></H3>
<P STYLE="padding-left: 30px;"><SPAN STYLE="font-size: medium;">Parents, please don't reserve a ticket for yourself.</SPAN></P>
